ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY MANAGER (GMG/AM 4)

The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health, with responsibility for the management and delivery of public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking to fill the position of Accident & Emergency Manager, St. Anns Bay Hospital.

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the A&E Manager shall have responsibility for providing administrative support to the Clinical Managers of the Accident and Emergency Department and has responsibility for non clinical operations of the Department; thus ensuring that the patients’ needs are met.

 

Requirements

  • BSc. in Management, Public Administration, Health Services Administration, Operations Management or Public Sector Management 
  • Minimum 5 years progressive supervisory experience in administrative management, preferably in the healthcare industry

 

Specific Knowledge Required

  •  Knowledge of regulations governing Emergency Medical Services 
  • Be service oriented, dedicated, polite, professional, experienced, and organized. 
  • Possess management skills and should be able to interface with employees of all levels 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing 
  • Manage time effectively; make sound decisions using problem-solving skills; and use productive group dynamics to achieve teamwork

 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to

  •  Manages, direct and coordinate the administrative and non medical functions of the Accident and Emergency Department and the clinics. 
  • Develop and maintain a system to ensure that adequate and appropriate medical and non medical supplies and equipment are available on a continuous basis 
  • Provides leadership in the development, revision, and implementation of processes, standards, and goals and objectives for the A&E Department 
  • Monitor critical practice indicators, identify opportunities for improvement, and guide the implementation of the action plan. 
  • Identifies opportunities for improving patient care and operations in the A&E Department.
